What to do if you are raped:

Rape or sexual assault can happen to anyone, anytime, anyplace. It could happen to you!

Sexual assault is when anyone touches areas of your body in a sexual way that makes you feel uncomfortable.

What is rape? Rape is forced sexual intercourse. When a woman is raped they usually feel fear, disbelief, guilt, and anxiety. The woman then faces important decisions. These decisions need to be made right away. She must decide where to seek medical care, whether to report the crime to police and who to talk to.

If this happens to you remember - You don't have to face these decisions alone. Family members and friends can help. If you would like someone outside friends and family please call the Domestic Violence Resource Center at our 24-hour crisis line: 828-635-8881. Our services include emotional support for victims and referral information.
